Sphygmomanometers
Cardio Depot offers a wide range of robust and reliable manual blood pressure monitors from the leading brands in the field of cardiology : Spengler and Welch Allyn.
The manopoire sphygmomanometer is a manual aneroid sphygmomanometer used to measure blood pressure and determine the patient's blood pressure. This instrument can be used by any health professional. The measurement is based on the auscultatory method using a stethoscope and the detection of Korotkoff sounds.
This model of blood pressure monitor has an aneroid manometer with a bulb that is independent of the cuff. The monitor is connected to the cuff by a quick-connect system that allows the use of different sized cuffs, adapted to the patient's body size.
Compact, practical and inexpensive, the monitor offers an optimal level of comfort during use. The manual blood pressure monitor is the model most recommended by healthcare professionals because of its reliability and ease of use.
How do manual blood pressure monitors work ?
The cuff is placed on the patient's arm and inflated by squeezing the bulb until the blood flow is blocked. When the cuff is inflated, no sound is heard by the practitioner through the stethoscope; the practitioner gradually deflates the cuff, restoring circulation.
Percussive sounds will then occur at certain blood pressure levels, which correspond to the patient's values.
To obtain the most reliable values, it is necessary to place the cuff and stethoscope correctly.
How to choose a manual blood pressure monitor ?
There are three elements to take into account when choosing your blood pressure monitor :
- The size of the cuff : you must choose a cuff with a size adapted to the patient's morphology (child or adult).
- The reading of the results of the device : You must make sure that the device has a large dial for an optimal level of comfort of use. Most models have a large dial of at least 56mm in diameter but there are models with a dial larger than 63mm such as the Spengler Maxi+3 Blood Pressure Monitor.
- Using the cuff with the dominant hand : The decompression button is positioned to suit left or right handed use.
